Make sure you read this entire page for your best chance at being successful in your job search.

Beaumont Health: Jobs in the health field are typically available and rewarding to many because of the opportunity to assist those with medical problems. These positions will typically be reserved for the general public with a clear record because of not having any criminal offense. Any type of involvement with the criminal justice system will severely curtail these job options. Our research shows that many health jobs require state license or certification often denied to felons. Therefore, this is unlikely to be a place for success for felons.

FCA US: As a major manufacturer of automobiles, FCA (Chrysler) has numerous opportunities available for qualified individuals throughout its locations, in different departments, and for those with varied backgrounds and work histories. Most of these job possibilities will go to individuals with a clean record.  Having a felony offense will cause major obstacles in gaining employment here. According to our research, it does seem that FCA hires felons. This does not indicate that they will hire all felons, but they may be willing to consider those with the desire to reenter society, find gainful employment, and support their families. It will depend on the felony offense, its seriousness, and when it occurred. This may be a place to look.

General Motors: This is a major manufacturer in the automobile industry. They hire numerous individuals for different departments and with different levels of skill, training, and work history. These opportunities almost always go to those with a clear record. According to our research, it does not appear that General Motors hires felons

Ascension Michigan: Health positions are different possibilities when looking for work. The general public with a spotless record will have the best chances of being hired here. A few basic support positions may be available for someone with a felony background, but many jobs in healthcare require the type of certification and license expected from the state that felons are often restricted from obtaining because of their criminal background. Our research indicates that this is probably not a good place to apply.

U.S. Postal Service: The U.S. Postal Service hires many qualified individuals for different locations and for people with varied skill sets, level of training, and work histories. Almost all of these opportunities will go to those with no criminal involvement. Our research does indicate that it is possible to work at the post office with a felony conviction, at least in a support position. It will take a great deal of perseverance and patience to be able to successfully apply here. It will also make a significant difference as to the felony offense and when it occurred. This may still be a place to look.

Henry Ford Health System: Health-related job opportunities are frequent but challenging for even those individuals with a clean record to obtain. Someone with a felony conviction will face an even greater obstacle when looking for work in this field because of state certification and license requirements often denied to felons. A few support positions might be options, but even these will be extremely limited, based on our research.

Oakland County: The government at the county level offers a number of possibilities throughout its departments and for different job titles and levels of training. These will almost always go to the general public with a clean record. A felony conviction will cause major difficulties in finding employment here.  Our research indicates that there may be some opportunity for those who are willing to persevere through the application and background check process. Of course, it will depend on the felony offense, its severity, and when it occurred. This may be a place to apply.

Trinity Health: Jobs in the health field are attractive and enticing to many individuals looking for work because of the opportunity to help people with medical issues. These jobs will go first to the section of the population with a clean record. A felony conviction will severely limit the opportunities for employment other than a few support positions. This is because the health industry requires many individuals to have state certification or licensure that can be denied to felons.

Magna International of America: This major automotive parts company employs many individuals throughout its departments at different levels of skill and training. These opportunities almost always go to those with a clean record. Any involvement with the criminal justice system will severely limit opportunities for employment. Some suggest possibly being able to work here with a misdemeanor.

Comerica Bank: The banking industry has many employment opportunities at different levels of education and training. These jobs will almost always go to those with a spotless record. The banking and financial fields typically have the strictest background check of all industries due to requirements set down by the FDIC. As such, little opportunity will be available here for employment with a felony conviction, based on our research.
